Scholarship Information
MEEA is offering scholarships to attend the upcoming conference. The scholarships are $200.00 and are offered as a reimbursement. This means that you must pay for the conference in full, keeping receipts. Reimbursement for conference receipts must be received within 20 days of the event. The scholarships will be paid within 20 days after receipt.
Complete every question/item on the application form in order to qualify for the scholarship. Each form will be evaluated using a rubric. Answer each question/item completely.
The deadline for applying for a scholarship is closed.
Lodging Information
The conference and lodging will be on-site at IP Casino and Resort. Standard double or queen rooms are available starting at $79/night.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Cathy Shropshire
Cathy Shropshire retired from the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks in 2001 after 26 years working in the Game Division and at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.
From 2001 to 2012 Cathy served as the Executive Director of the Mississippi Wildlife Federation. Following retirement from the Federation, Cathy continued to volunteer for the organization. She also served on the board of the Clinton Community Nature Center.
It was while she was at the Museum that Cathy learned about Miss Cook’s work and her enormous contributions to conservation in Mississippi. Cathy first appeared as Miss Cook in 2009 in the Mississippi Public Broadcasting feature, “The Gulf Islands: Mississippi’s Wilderness Shore”. Today Cathy is the theatrical incarnation of Fannye Cook. She is the creator, writer and costume designer of “Pursuing a Dream – Protecting Mississippi’s Natural Resources.” She has performed as Miss Cook in venues throughout Mississippi. Many of those performances were associated with book signings for Miss Cook’s biography Fannye Cook: Mississippi’s Pioneering Conservationist.
and spent a decade as Education Coordinator, developing science education programs for families, scouts, and schools with an emphasis on the conservation of native plants and animals.
In 1988 she stepped up to the directorship of the Museum of Natural Science and began planning the museum’s new home in Le Fleur’s Bluff State Park. The facility was opened to the public in 2000.
Hartfield soon began raising funds for a research addition that was dedicated in 2012. Following a short tenure as Director of Mississippi State Parks, Libby Hartfield retired in 2015 after 37 years of service to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. She served for several years on the Mississippi Science Teachers Association board of directors. She currently cohosts the popular radio show Creature Comforts for Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
