Space Between the Trees

What: Space Between the Trees is a nature- based educational program for students and teachers in grades 8-10 occurring in the Mississippi Delta in June 2021. The immersive 3-day program is free of charge, and is open to a select number of students and faculty.
Where: Participating students and educators will receive transportation to nearby nature sites including the Mississippi River and state parks. All related program expenses are covered free of charge.
When: June 28-30, 2021
Who: The program will accept 30 students and 6 teachers from Sunflower, Bolivar, and Coahoma Counties. Counselors and expert educators will ensure a safe, rewarding, and fun experience for all involved.
Nature and public land will be an extension of the classroom to give students experiences that support learnings across subject areas through creative and hands on activities. The goal is to work with the public school educators to tailor activities to the learning goals of participating teacher's classroom. Each educator will receive a $500 stipend for participating, and will als
o be a resource as we recruit participating students.
